19922 - Gone Swimming
19922 Gone Swimming: To lounge poolside or not — that is the question this vacation season. While some of the best bayside beaches (Mayflower and Corporation) are only a few miles down the road, this four-bedroom, two-floor home has its own, private, unheated in-ground pool.
Ideal for entertaining, the backyard features a fenced-in pool, a deck area with an outdoor table and seating, a Weber propane grill, and direct access to a finished walk-out basement, which offers a half bath, game room with foosball and an arcade set for two, plus a bedroom outfitted with a queen bed.
Great for multi-family travel, there are sleeping accommodations on each floor. The home’s front entrance leads directly into a living area, located near a full bathroom (with a washer and dryer) and a bedroom with a queen bed. The second floor has a full bathroom and two bedrooms: The master bedroom provides a king bed, while the second bedroom has a twin bunk bed, plus a twin-full bunk bed set. And, of course, the finished basement features the aforementioned bedroom with a queen bed, half bathroom, game room and ground-level entrance to the backyard, deck and pool area.
At this home, there is no shortage of spots to gather and gab. In addition to the front living room with a TV and comfortable couch seating for five, there is a larger living room that is part of the open-concept kitchen, dining and living area. At the back of the home is the spacious family room with a vaulted ceiling, ample natural light, large-screen TV and even more couch seating for movie night, as well as a back entrance that leads down a set of exterior stairs to the backyard.
This home is only a mile from one of Cape Cod’s most distinctive landmarks: Scargo Tower is a 30-foot cobblestone tower overlooking Scargo Lake that offers panoramic views of Cape Cod’s coastline, from Plymouth to Provincetown. Legend has it Scargo Lake is shaped like a fish because Princess Scargo, of the Wampanoag Tribe, was given three young fish in a hollowed-out pumpkin by her beloved, who promised to return after battle, before the fish reached maturity. Worrying that the pumpkin was too small for the growing fish, the princess had the villagers dig a larger vessel, now known as Scargo Lake. However, before the rain could come and fill the lake, Princess Scargo learned of her warrior’s death. Instead of rain, the lake was filled with the princess’s tears.
Other nearby attractions to check out are Dennis Pines and Dennis Highlands public golf courses, both less than 3 miles away. The Cape Cod Rail Trail is also nearby; you can rent bikes at Barbara’s Bike & Sport, located next to the trail, in South Dennis.
