13327 The Tranquil Bear: Pond front home with detached cottage, private dock and swimming raft in beautiful National Seashore! This lovely, secluded Wellfleet home, located directly on Herring Pond, is the perfect place for a family retreat. Walk down the recently installed stone steps with railing to the freshwater pond below, complete with a boat dock and canoe. The pond is perfect for boating, fishing, and swimming, and there are six more ponds within walking distance of the house. Nearby Gull Pond is a favorite, where you can rent kayaks and relax on the public beach. The ocean is also within walking distance (about 12 minutes walk down dirt road and trails), and at the end of the road you will find a private path leading to the beach, which you will have access to. Back at our home, you will find a screened in sunroom overlooking the water - perfect for meals, reading, and relaxing while enjoying the breeze. There are three livable floors in the main house, with a queen bedroom on each floor, as well as two and a half bathrooms and two living areas, one with a flat screen TV and variety of board games and DVDs. The detached cottage features two twin size daybeds, sink and mini fridge, full bathroom, and up a ladder is an open lofted bedroom area with a queen bed - perfect for the kids! Other amenities include cable TV, WiFi, two outdoor showers (main house & cottage), deck with seating, gas grill, air conditioning, and we provide all of our guests with fresh linens and bath towels free of charge. *We strongly recommend vehicles that can handle dirt roads with lots of bumps. Specific parking instructions will be provided.*Please Note: home is ¼ mile down packed dirt road from main road; VERY Steep Paved driveway to top of hill. All cars with normal suspensions can make it on both the road and driveway (no lower suspensions). 4X4 not required. There are some potholes, but very easy to drive around. Drive slowly please.
